The Spirit of Giving Rolls Back Into Barrie
When the holiday season arrives, Barrie knows how to respond with heart and generosity. The city’s beloved Stuff the Bus campaign is returning, collecting new, unwrapped toys and non-perishable food donations in support of the Barrie Food Bank and Christmas Cheer Barrie. Hosted by ATU Local 1775 in partnership with Barrie Transit, this feel-good fundraiser invites everyone to help make a difference right here in our community.

What Is Stuff the Bus Barrie?
Stuff the Bus is a community-driven holiday initiative where a decorated Barrie Transit bus parks at various local businesses. Volunteers and transit staff collect donations directly from the public. The bus becomes both a visual symbol of holiday kindness and a collection point for families in need.
This tradition has grown into more than just a donation drive. It is a celebration of unity, generosity, and shared compassion that defines Barrie at its best.

Why Your Donations Matter More Than Ever
This year, more Barrie families are facing financial pressure. Rising costs have led to increased demand at the Barrie Food Bank, especially from households with children and seniors.
Christmas Cheer Barrie is preparing to serve over 1,700 families this holiday season. Their holiday hampers include toys and groceries, and every item is donated by local residents and businesses. Your donation will directly help a neighbour in need.
Meet the Organizers: ATU Local 1775
The campaign is led by the dedicated members of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1775, representing the hardworking team behind Barrie Transit. These are the drivers and staff who keep the city moving every day. During the holiday season, they go even further by organizing and participating in Stuff the Bus.
One ATU member shared, “We work with the public all year, and we know how important this campaign is. It means a lot to be part of something that brings the community together in such a positive way.“
